Si 264™ reacts with hydroxyl groups of white fillers during mixing and with the polymer during vulcanization under formation of covalent bonds. This imparts greater tensile strength, higher moduli, reduced compression set, increased abrasion resistance, and optimized dynamic properties.
Compared to polysulfidic silanes Si 264™ leads to lower compression set values and better abrasion resistance.
Typical Applications
Shoe Soles, Mechanical Rubber Goods
Benefits at a glance
- Forms stable crosslinks with a wide range of polymers based on NR, IR, SBR, BR, NBR and EPDM during vulcanization.
- Crosslinks have a high share of short sulfur-bridges which leads to low compression sets and high heat stability of the vulcanized rubber articles.
Si 264™ enables mechanical rubber goods with
- High dynamic stability (e. g. lower tan δ at elevated temperatures)
- Reduced heat build-up
- Low compression set
- High abrasion resistance
- Low compound viscosity
Despite its high reactivity towards the polymer, Si 264™ does not cause thermal crosslinks during compounding. Even after prolonged mixing at 170°C the compound does not show any sign of scorching.

Storage:
The storage stability only applies to material stored under appropriate conditions:
- original un-opened packaging
- stored dry and frost-free
- protected from direct sunlight
Aqueous acids and bases accelerate the transformation of organosilanes to polymeric siloxanes. Therefore, organosilanes should be stored in a dry place, away from acids and bases. The quality of this product can also be influenced by moisture (humidity). During handling and storage, please prevent humidity from entering the container. Keep container tightly closed during storage and close it immediately after use.
