Why is supporting students important to you?

There is a clear reason behind my commitment to business@school. For several years, I volunteered as a mentor and reading coach with an organization that helps children between the ages of 8 and 9 improve their reading skills. That experience showed me how valuable it is to support students in their personal development and create opportunities that can have a lasting impact on their future.

What makes business@school particularly interesting to you?

From my perspective, business@school brings tremendous value to schools. The initiative helps students who are approaching graduation build a strong foundation in business and economic concepts, sparks their interest in these topics, and gives them the opportunity to explore the world of business in depth over the course of a year.

How do you view today's students compared to your own experience at that age?

When I think back to who I was at 16, I am impressed by the intelligence and maturity of today's students, especially when it comes to topics that are relevant to the business world. At the same time, it is clear that, at 16, they are still in the process of gaining life experience, which is completely natural.

What fascinates me is how many students are genuinely interested in complex topics and how professionally they present themselves. Their ability to speak confidently in front of an audience and deliver high-quality presentations is truly remarkable. When I compare that to my own experience at that age, I have to admit that I was far less confident.

What do you enjoy most about coaching?

I enjoy sharing my business knowledge and professional experience with students. It is exciting to see how they think about different topics, approach challenges, and develop their own solutions. business@school provides the ideal environment for exactly that.

Evonik has been a partner of business@school, the educational initiative of The Boston Consulting Group, for many years. This educational initiative gives high school students a close-up, hands-on look at business and entrepreneurship over the course of one school year.
