How GutPlus® contributes to overall gut health
Mitigating the impact of harmful pathogens
GutPlus® delivers a number of benefits to livestock by reducing diarrhea incidence and severity, leading to improved performance. In piglets, field trials have shown a 15% increase in daily liveweight gain, a 10% reduction in feed conversion ratio, and a 35% increase in the incidence of diarrhea. In poultry, GutPlus® shows excellent activity against Enterococcus caecorum, a cause of skeletal disease, especially in broilers, that impacts growth, raises welfare issues, and causes increased downgrades.
These benefits are a result of the unique properties of Bacillus subtilis DSM 32540, the probiotic strain behind GutPlus®. Selected for its ability to produce numerous anti-bacterial compounds, in vitro results show excellent activity against many enterotoxigenic E. coli strains, Clostridium perfringens and C. difficile, Enterococcus caecorum and various Streptococci. It also shows good activity against Staphylococcus.
