Durocel® M-1

Used as catalyst topping and hold down media in catalyst reactors. High void fraction and durability properties result in uniform distribution and low pressure drop, resulting in better overall catalyst reactor performance. The high void fraction also allows for trapping of large particulates that could foul active catalysts.

Typical Applications

It is typically applied upstream of the main active catalyst bed in hydroprocessing units.

Benefits at a glance

  • Protects bulk catalyst from particulates.
  • Protects against pressure drop build-up.
  • Holds down the catalyst and prevents its movement due to gas phase vortex actions.

Further Information

Storage:

The material is stored in its original containers/packaging in a dry, covered location protected
from the ambient environment
• The material is protected from direct exposure to sunlight and rain (prolonged exposure to
direct sunlight may degrade the packaging)
• The material is not subjected to temperatures exceeding 450°F/230°C while in storage
• The material is stored elevated off the ground to ensure that there is no exposure to liquid
water
• Once the material is loaded into the vessel, a thorough nitrogen purge is recommended to
remove excessive free moisture
• Desiccant products intended for regenerative service will require a complete thermal
regeneration cycle (in TSA service) or several pressure swing cycles (in PSA service) before full
activity is restored

Packaging:

330 lbs (150 kg) steel drums
1,874 lbs (850 kg) supersacks

Shelf life:

5 years in original packaging stored in a dry, covered location
