Used as catalyst topping and hold down media in catalyst reactors. High void fraction and durability properties result in uniform distribution and low pressure drop, resulting in better overall catalyst reactor performance. The high void fraction also allows for trapping of large particulates that could foul active catalysts.

Typical Applications
It is typically applied upstream of the main active catalyst bed in hydroprocessing units.
Benefits at a glance
- Protects bulk catalyst from particulates.
- Protects against pressure drop build-up.
- Holds down the catalyst and prevents its movement due to gas phase vortex actions.
