Spherical cobalt-molybdenum (CoMo) on activated alumina catalyst for use in Claus tail gas treating units that contain a hydrogenation reactor (e.g. SCOT tail gas units). Designed for use in tail gas units with a reactor inlet temperature of at least 500 °F (260 °C). Maxcel TGS-01 can be treated with actiCAT® TG presulfurization or UltraCAT® TG preactivation for simple and fast tail gas unit startup.

Claus tail gas treating
Benefits at a glance
Spherical cobalt-molybdenum (CoMo) on activated alumina catalyst for use in Claus tail gas treating units
that contain a hydrogenation reactor (e.g. SCOT tail gas units). Optimized catalyst support structure provides
high conversion of SO2, COS, CS2, and elemental sulfur in Claus tail gas with very low pressure drop.
Also facilitates water-gas shift reaction in the hydrogenation reactor to reduce CO emissions from tail
gas incinerator, producing additional hydrogen for reduction. Typical reactor inlet temperature of 500°F
(260°C), but may vary by application. Maxcel TGS-01 can be treated with actiCAT® TG presulfurization
or UltraCAT® TG preactivation for simple and fast tail gas unit startup.

Further Information
Storage:
The material is stored in its original containers/packaging in a dry, covered location protected
from the ambient environment
• The material is protected from direct exposure to sunlight and rain (prolonged exposure to
direct sunlight may degrade the packaging)
• The material is not subjected to temperatures exceeding 450°F/230°C while in storage
• The material is stored elevated off the ground to ensure that there is no exposure to liquid
water
• Once the material is loaded into the vessel, a thorough nitrogen purge is recommended to
remove excessive free moisture
• Desiccant products intended for regenerative service will require a complete thermal
regeneration cycle (in TSA service) or several pressure swing cycles (in PSA service) before full
activity is restored
