SURFYNOL® 61 is a volatile substrate wetting agent for waterborne adhesives. Due to its volatility, this product can be used in applications where residual surface activity or contamination is undesirable. SURFYNOL® 61 can evaporate from a system under use conditions and/or heating. SURFYNOL® 61 can provide excellent wetting of polyethylene and polypropylene films.
SURFYNOL® 61 can “block” platinum catalysts through complexation; this effect can be used to delay the curing reaction of addition curing silicones. However, SURFYNOL® 61 typically flashes off upon heating to liberate the active catalyst and trigger the reaction.
