Evonik Tomamine® quaternary amines are based on the reaction of aliphatic tertiary amines with methyl chloride using isopropanol as a diluent. The Tomamine® Q-Series ether amine based quats are represented by the formula where R is the alkyl radical and n is the total number of moles of ethylene oxide.
Typical Applications
- Corrosion inhibitors
- Anti-static agents
- Surfactants in non-butyl cleaning systems
- Cationic emulsification
- Detergent boosters
Tomamine® Q-14-2 75% active isodecyloxypropyl bis-(2-hydroxy-ethyl) methyl ammonium chloride (Available in propylene glycol as Q-14-2 PG)
Benefits at a glance
- Efficient emulsifier of various materials
- Inhibits corrosion
- Boosts detergency of non-ionic surfactants
- Anti-static agent
- May be combined with other surfactants to produce a solvent-free degreaser
- Strongly cationic and substantive to surfaces
