ACCUREL® DS 330 is a highly loaded “dry silane” concentrate based on LLDPE and VTEO (Vinyltriethoxysilane). It is bifunctional, possessing a reactive vinyl group and a hydrolysable ethoxy silyl group.
Typical Applications
The dual nature of the dry silane concentrate ACCUREL® DS 330, allows the chemical binding of inorganic materials (e.g. glass, metals, fillers) with organic polymers (e.g. thermosets, thermoplastics, elastomers) functioning as an adhesion promotor, crosslinker and/or surface modifier. ACCUREL® DS 330 is used in the Sioplas process to produce low voltage x-linkable cable compounds.
Benefits at a glance
ACCUREL® DS 330 is used in thermoplastic applications to improve:
In the presents of humidity, the ethoxy groups of ACCUREL® DS 330 can hydrolyze to form reactive silanol groups, which can bond to a variety of organic groups or on inorganic fillers. Upon hydrolysis ethanol is released. To enhance the bonding due to hydrolysis, catalysts like organo metal components like DBTL can be added separately. The vinyl end of ACCUREL® DS 330 can react with suitable polymers initiated by peroxides. The curing of the alkoxy groups depends on time, temperature and thickness of the parts and the available moisture. ACCUREL® DS 330 may be used with such polymers as epoxy, phenolic, furan and melamine resins, PA, PBT, PC, ECA, PP, PVB, PVAC, PVC, PS, nitrile rubber, polyesters, acrylates and silicones.
- The embedding of fillers for highly filled compounds with inorganic or carbon-based materials to achieve high thermal conductivity
- The embedding of flame retardants, like ATH or MDH especially in HFFR compounds
- The adhesion on solid surfaces
- The heat distortion temperature and hot set performance of various polymers and cable compounds
- Mechanical properties, such as flexural strength, tensile strength, impact strength and modulus of elasticity
- Moisture and corrosion resistance
- Electrical properties, for example CTI value or dielectric constant, volume resistivity
