What makes an expert? Meet Jennifer and Katharina!

After earning a degree in Bioengineering from FH Aachen, Jennifer began her career in cosmetic research, building expertise in molecular biology, biotechnology, and the development of innovative active ingredients. She started her professional journey in R&D and went on to take on roles in technical service, applied research, innovation management, and global product development, taking on international leadership responsibilities along the way. Over the years, Jennifer has combined scientific expertise with a passion for solving complex challenges, helping bridge cutting-edge research with customer needs. Today, as Head of Biological Evaluation, Jennifer leads the biological evaluation activities of the Evonik Skin Institute, managing four global laboratories. What inspires her most is the opportunity to keep learning while working with talented experts in an environment built on trust and growth.

After earning a Bachelor of Science from Heidelberg University and expanding her international experience at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, she completed her Master of Science in Chemistry at the University of Hamburg. She then pursued her doctoral research at the Helmholtz Centre Hereon, building deep expertise in materials and chemical sciences. Joining Evonik Dr. Straetmans as Technical Manager Applied Innovation, Katharina translated scientific insights into innovative solutions for the personal care industry. Today, as a Technical Key Account Manager at Evonik, she combines her technical expertise with a strong understanding of customer needs, helping bring innovative skin care concepts to life.
