Evonik to present solutions for the mining industry at ABM WEEK 2023

Evonik will be present at another edition of ABM WEEK, one of the most important tradeshows in Latin America in the fields of metallurgy, materials, and mining, to take place from August 1-3 at Pro Magno Centro de Eventos, in São Paulo (SP).

As a global leader in collectors for cationic reverse flotation of iron ore, Evonik now also offers its high-performance chemicals to the Brazilian mining industry. 

Evonik’s solutions for this sector are part of the Technical Applications product line, which includes a broad array of organic specialty surfactants such as ether-monoamines and ether-diamines, quaternary ammonium compounds, imidazolines, and amphoteric substances. The company also offers cationic and non-ionic surfactants for applications in industrial markets that can function in various ways, e.g., in hydrophobization and emulsification solutions.

Our broad product offering, technical assistance, and application knowledge allows us to meet the needs of various areas of the industry, such as mining and mineral processing, oil fields, and chemical processing. Among the main applications of this product line are flotation products, dewatering aids, foam control agents, anti-cake, and emulsifiers for explosives and dust control.

Evonik produces a variety of high-performance chemicals that have been used in hematite and magnetite mines across the globe. Among these specialties are ether-amines, essential agents in iron ore beneficiation processes. Evonik also offers tailor-made formulations to optimize mass and metal recovery, foaming level and degree of concentration.  

For phosphate reverse flotation, Evonik develops specific reagents that provide equivalent or superior performance by using a lower collector dosage than competing traditional chemicals still in use in the market. And in the case of potash ore flotation, our formulations, which can also be tailor-made, help control the foam and concentrate contents. In addition to mineral collectors, Evonik also offers a range of anticaking additives for the potash industry. 

Evonik’s cationic collectors are also used in the beneficiation of many other minerals to improve the plant recovery efficiency. Some of them are zinc, carbonate, feldspar, glass sands, silica, barite, wollastonite, niobium, copper, among others.

In addition to the aforementioned solutions, Evonik also produces dewatering aids, which assist in the filtration of concentrates and tailings by reducing cake moisture.
