Essen, Germany. With a new, natural product rich in capsaicinoids, polyphenols, and flavonoids, Evonik helps the dairy industry address two major challenges: nutrient deficiency in early lactation and heat stress. BoruCare® Capsin has been developed in cooperation with Heidi Botanicals, a French specialist in plant-based products for livestock. The product will be presented at SPACE 2025. It will be commercially available in Europe from Q4 2025.
“BoruCare® Capsin expands and complements our solutions for ruminants”, says Dr. Marion Hax, head of the Specialty Nutrition product line of Evonik Animal Nutrition. “With capsaicinoids as the main active compound in addition to polyphenols and flavonoids, it has multiple positive effects on the nutritional status, nutrient efficiency, and milk yield of dairy cows, particularly in stressful phases.”
In a proprietary process developed jointly with Heidi Botanicals, the product is derived from chili peppers without any solvent extraction. The process includes grinding the peppers, standardizing the capsaicinoids content to a minimum of 0.5%, and then encapsulation into a fatty matrix to remove pungency for excellent handling properties.
“Our unique process makes BoruCare® Capsin a particularly environmentally friendly product”, says Dr. Claudia Parys, responsible for the ruminant portfolio at Evonik Animal Nutrition. Another advantage of BoruCare® Capsin is that the whole chili peppers are used. Therefore, the product contains all secondary metabolites of the plants in addition to capsaicin.
The new product will be first presented at SPACE, the international exhibition for animal farming, September 16-18, at the Parc-Expo in Rennes, France. Evonik can be found in Hall 9, Booth No. B42
