Allentown, USA. Evonik has strengthened its epoxy curing agent offering for the Americas region to address challenging application conditions with Ancamine® 2868 and Ancamine® 2844. Both solutions are designed to support epoxy formulators in protective, marine, and industrial coatings requiring rapid cure, productivity, and reliable performance under demanding temperature and humidity conditions.
Ancamine® 2868 is a modified cyclic polyamine designed to function as a highly efficient, crosslinkable accelerator for epoxy systems. When used as a co‑curing agent with polyamides, amidoamines, and cycloaliphatic amine curing agents, it enables rapid thin‑film cure while maintaining key physical and barrier properties, surface appearance, and corrosion protection. By significantly accelerating cure speed, Ancamine® 2868 allows epoxy formulators to fine‑tune performance and formulation response, while supporting efficient processing and broad formulation flexibility. These attributes make it well suited for industrial maintenance, protective coatings, and civil engineering applications where fast return to service is critical.
“Coating applications under challenging temperature and humidity conditions often force customers to choose between speed, appearance and durability,” said Svetlana Ivanova, Marketing Director, Epoxy Curing Agents at Evonik. “With Ancamine® 2868, we are expanding the formulation options available to customers in the Americas by offering an efficient accelerator that delivers very fast cure together with a strong EH&S profile. Combined with proven solutions like Ancamine® 2844, these technologies help customers address real‑world application challenges while supporting productivity and responsible product stewardship.”
Ancamine® 2844 complements this accelerator technology as an ultra‑fast cure, high‑functionality aliphatic amine hardener developed for plural component spray applications. Engineered to deliver reliable curing and rapid property development at temperatures as low as 5 °C, this powerful hardener enables faster return to service while providing excellent surface appearance, high chemical resistance, and long‑term corrosion protection in cold‑climate and winter application scenarios.
Ancamine® 2844 also demonstrates strong carbamation resistance under cold and damp conditions, along with excellent adhesion and resistance to chemicals and corrosion, including up to 3,000 hours of salt spray performance. These attributes make it particularly well suited for winter coatings, fast‑cure protective systems, and other applications where downtime must be minimized.
“From a technical perspective, achieving fast cure, particularly at low temperatures without sacrificing durability or corrosion resistance is a complex balancing act,” said Dr. Raghuraman Govindan Karunakaran, Advanced Technology Manager, Crosslinkers at Evonik. “Ancamine® 2844 delivers exceptional low‑temperature performance as a stand‑alone hardener, while Ancamine® 2868 adds formulation flexibility as a crosslinkable accelerator, enabling formulators to fine‑tune cure speed and performance. Together, they give customers powerful options to design robust, fast‑curing epoxy systems tailored to specific applications and challenging conditions.”
These fast-cure solutions will be showcased at the American Coatings Show (ACS) as part of Evonik’s broader epoxy portfolio for the Americas, reinforcing Evonik’s commitment to enabling high‑performance, productivity‑driven coating solutions tailored to real‑world application challenges, including seasonal, climatic, and regulatory demands. Customers and partners can meet the Evonik Crosslinkers team at Booth #2030 to explore formulation concepts and discuss fast‑track and winter‑ready coating solutions for demanding application environments.
