Shanghai, China. Evonik’s innovative TEGO® Foamex 8051, a siloxane-based defoamer concentrate, has received the prestigious Ringier Coating Industry Innovation Award. The award recognizes the product’s technological innovation, strong performance, and contribution to the sustainable development of waterborne coatings.

Widely regarded across the coatings industry, the award honors solutions that advance performance, environmental responsibility, and practical applicability. TEGO® Foamex 8051 stood out by effectively addressing key technical and regulatory challenges in modern waterborne formulations – delivering reliable foam control while maintaining an excellent sustainability profile.

Specifically developed for aqueous systems, TEGO® Foamex 8051 is a 100% active polyether-siloxane defoamer that provides rapid foam knockdown and long-lasting defoaming performance at very low addition levels. It maintains high efficiency even under demanding, high-shear processing conditions, making it ideal for applications such as high-viscosity or high-PVC architectural coatings and pigment grinds. The product also supports efficient grinding processes, offers strong storage stability, and ensures consistent performance throughout the coating lifecycle.

Beyond its performance benefits, TEGO® Foamex 8051 sets a high benchmark for environmental and regulatory compliance within the defoamer segment. It contains no added mineral oils, hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), APEOs, or PFAS. The formulation delivers near-zero VOC (0.08%) and SVOC (0.19%) content, measured according to DIN ISO 11890-2. In addition, the product complies with the EU Ecolabel (2014/312/EU) and is registered across major global markets, enabling safe and compliant use worldwide.

“This award highlights our commitment to delivering solutions that combine high performance with sustainability,” said Peggy Qu, Head of Coating Additives Asia Pacific at Evonik. “With TEGO® Foamex 8051, our customers can achieve effective foam control while meeting increasingly stringent environmental and regulatory requirements.”

This recognition marks the eighth consecutive year Evonik has received the Ringier Coating Industry Innovation Award, underscoring the company’s sustained leadership in product innovation.
