Evonik enables sustainable value chains with ISCC Plus-certified ULTRASIL® eCO

  • Introduces a circular silica solution based on ISCC Plus-certified raw materials
  • ULTRASIL® eCO provides verified, auditable circular content for tire and rubber applications
  • Expands sustainable supply and strengthens Evonik’s global circular silica portfolio

Essen, Germany. Evonik, together with the Egesil Kimya team, has reached a key milestone in its sustainability journey by obtaining ISCC Plus certification for its precipitated silica plant in Adapazarı, Turkey - its first certified silica site in the EMEA region. With this certification in place, the site has now begun commercial production of ULTRASIL® eCO, Evonik’s circular silica based on recognized mass balance standards.

ULTRASIL® eCO expands Evonik’s global portfolio of certified circular silica solutions and enables tire and rubber manufacturers to make their value chains more sustainable by incorporating verified circular content - without compromising performance.

“With ULTRASIL® eCO, we are delivering regional circular silica solutions at scale. The ISCC Plus certification of our Adapazarı site strengthens the resilience and sustainability of our global silica network,” says Anna Kunze, Global Marketing Director Tire at Evonik’s Smart Effects business line.

“This milestone demonstrates both our technological capability and our commitment to scaling credible circular solutions across regions,” adds Roland Krafczyk, Global Head Applied Technology for Tire & Oral at Smart Effects. “It reinforces Evonik’s role as a trusted partner for customers seeking certified pathways to more sustainable materials.”

The certification was achieved through close collaboration between Evonik’s sustainability experts and the Adapazarı site team, ensuring full compliance with ISCC Plus requirements. It enables circular silica production at industrial scale in EMEA, enhances supply security, and further strengthens Evonik’s sustainable silica offering.
