Essen, Germany. Evonik is expanding its ruminant portfolio with the launch of Lypron®, a rumen-protected lysine solution designed to deliver targeted amino acid nutrition and support efficient, balanced feeding strategies in modern livestock production.
Developed in collaboration with Sipena, a French specialist in coating technologies that will exclusively manufacture the product for Evonik, Lypron® delivers metabolizable lysine precisely where it is needed. This ensures optimal utilisation of nutrients to support high performance in ruminants.
Lysine is one of the most limiting amino acids in ruminant nutrition and plays a critical role in performance. With its high and reliable metabolizable lysine content, Lypron® enables producers to balance diets for amino acids more precisely, boosting profitability by reducing the need for expensive protein sources.
“With Lypron®, we are expanding our ruminant solutions to complement our established products like Mepron®,” said Marion Hax, Head of the Specialty Nutrition Product Line at Evonik Animal Nutrition. “Completing our amino acid balancing concept allows us to support customers in achieving both higher performance and more sustainable feeding strategies.”
By improving the dietary amino acid balance, Lypron® supports the use of low protein diets, optimizing nitrogen utilization. This can contribute to lower nitrogen excretion, helping farms reduce environmental impact while maintaining productivity.
“Lypron® helps nutritionists optimize amino acid supply, increase productivity, and reduce reliance on excess dietary protein, which is increasingly important both economically and environmentally,” said Claudia Parys, Global Head of the Ruminant Business at Evonik Animal Nutrition.
Lypron® enables more flexible feeding strategies, including low protein and soy reduced diets. As a non-GMO solution, it supports market requirements in regions where GMO free production is essential, while maintaining high performance standards.
