Biolys® is a highly effective and reliable source of L-lysine feed grade that enables unsurpassed precision in balancing amino acids. Biolys® has a minimum concentration of 62.4%. It not only enables the requirements for the essential amino acid L-lysine to be met, Biolys® also contains valuable byproducts resulting from its fermentation – additional nutrients and energy that further benefit livestock.

Typical Applications

Reducing feed costs by balancing the amino acid composition in the diets of livestock is a sound method to boost efficiency, but it requires precision. Lysine is an essential and limiting amino acid in feed for poultry, swine, fish, crustaceans, and dairy cows. A lysine-deficient diet can have a negative impact on animals’ growth performance.

Market-leading product carbon footprint

Biolys® is produced through an advanced fermentation process that utilizes renewable resources, ensuring a high-quality product while prioritizing sustainability. Our production facilities in Blair, Nebraska, US, and Castro, Brazil, are strategically located in major corn-producing regions, ensuring a steady supply of corn-derived dextrose. Both plants meet 100 percent of their electrical energy needs from renewable sources. Since 2021, Evonik has reduced the CO₂ emissions from its Biolys® production by about 20 percent. Its product-specific carbon footprint is now just 1.30 units CO₂ equivalent, the lowest carbon footprint for lysine on the market.
