These binders provide excellent processing adaptability, enabling optimized performance across different substrates, curing conditions and application requirements.
VESTANAT® EP-M 60 is a self-crosslinking binder developed for formulating highly scratch-resistant, chemically durable coating systems. It can be cured at room temperature or elevated temperatures using suitable catalysts (available on request), offering formulators broad process flexibility.
Typical Applications
Clear Coats (Automotive OEM/refinish, wood, plastic, maintenance)
- Provides high transparency, long lasting gloss retention, excellent protection against wear, chemicals, and weathering.
- Suitable for multi-substrate systems requiring a durable, high-quality finish.
2K PUR Coatings (as a cocrosslinker)
- Enhances hardness, chemical resistance, and film durability when combined with compatible polyurethane systems.
These versatile application possibilities make VESTANAT® EP-M 60 a valuable component for modern coating formulations across multiple industries.
Benefits at a glance
- Suitable for elevated temperature curing – Provides excellent reactivity and stability at higher curing temperatures, enabling robust film formation and improved mechanical strength, and long-term coating durability.
- Outstanding scratch resistance – The self-crosslinking structure forms a hard, resilient surface that significantly reduces visible wear, abrasion and surface damage over time —ideal for scratch resistant clear coats.
- Excellent chemical resistance and anti-graffiti effect – Helps to create coatings that withstand exposure to chemicals and allows easier removal of graffiti or surface contaminants without degrading appearance or film integrity.
- Full performance with compatible resins – When formulated with compatible binder systems, it enchances mechanical, chemical, and aesthetic properties , ensuring consistent high-quality coating performance.
- Decontaminable – Cured surfaces can be effectively cleaned and restored even after exposure to challenging substances, supporting long-term use in demanding industrial or maintenance environments.
Together, these benefits make VESTANAT® EP-M 60 a reliable, high-performance binder for coatings that must withstand tough mechanical and environmental conditions.

A Toolbox for Custom-Designed Coating Solutions
The VESTANAT® EP-M Series technology platform is based on IPMS chemistry, and the corresponding PUR adducts opens up a wide range of formulation possibilities for scratch-resistant coatings across a plethora of substrates such as wood, plastic, metals and many more. Depending on curing conditions, processing needs and required performance, formulators can choose multiple options to create truly tailor-made coating solutions.
Two Technology Pathways for Maximum Design Freedom
VESTANAT® EP-M grades: PUR–Silane Hybrid Technology
VESTANAT® EP-M grades are PUR-silane hybrid binders suitable for both room temperature and elevated-temperature curing. They enable the formulation of highly scratch-resistant coatings with robust chemical durability and strong mechanical performance.
VESTANAT® EP-MF grades: Ready-to-Use 1K Moisture-curable Systems
VESTANAT® EP-MF grades are self-crosslinking IPMS-PUR adducts that enable a ready-to-use, 1K solution for moisture-curable systems for room temperature applications with short drying times. These grades combine the favorable properties of PUR technology with glass-like hardness, all in a single, isocyanate-free component —ideal for modern, low VOC, easy-to-process coatings.
