TEGOSTAB® B 8110 is a surfactant for manufacturing flexible polyether polyurethane foams.
Typical Applications
Due to its high potency, TEGOSTAB® B 8110 offers a highly economic way for the manufacturing of flexible polyether polyurethane foams.
This is of particular advantage when producing low density foams. The product is also well suited for discontinuous box foam. It could be used for formulations with methylene chloride. It also well suited for formulations made with a high share of PO-polyol. The product helps to minimize splits.
Despite the high potency of TEGOSTAB® B 8110, it provides a rather wide processing latitude and can therefore be used in a wide range between very low to medium densities.
TEGOSTAB® B 8110 acts in an effective and reliable way with all kind of blowing agents as they are in current use and its application results in a safe stabilization on continuously running machines and in box foaming.
The superior economics which are achievable with TEGOSTAB® B 8110 are caused by a dual effect: a high gas yield and - in addition - a clearly thinner bottom skin.
Due to this dual effect, the change from a common high potent stabilizer to TEGOSTAB® B 8110 normally results in slightly lower densities, even when the applied amount of stabilizer is slightly reduced, e. g. by about 10 %.
Common use levels of TEGOSTAB® B 8110 are in the range of 0.7 and 2.0 parts per 100 parts of polyol in a density range between 30 and 15 kg/m³. For lower densities the use level might have to be increased, e.g. 3.8 pphp for manufacturing of a foam with 8 kg/m³. The optimal concentration will depend on specifics of the formulation.
