TEGOSIL® MOD 705 is a SiH-terminated polydimethyl siloxane for the use as a reactive plasticizer in addition-curing silicones. Due to the difunctional structure, this product does not react by crosslinking, but by extending the chains of vinyl-terminated silicone polymers (TEGOSIL® VS). Using TEGOSIL® MOD 705 reduces the crosslinking density and therefore the elastomer hardness. It allows creating low viscous formulations with highest elongations. In addition, TEGOSIL® stands for high-quality silicone solutions with low cyclic content, ensuring optimized performance and compliance with stringent regulatory standards (D4 < 250ppm, D5 < 1000ppm, D6 < 1000ppm).
Typical Applications
Use of the modifiers allows obtaining products with a low Shore hardness, even when using low-viscosity vinyl polymers. These modifiers are therefore used in formulations that have a low viscosity prior to crosslinking and should have low Shore hardness after crosslinking. Another important modifier application is the formulation of silicone gels.
When working with two-component silicone formulations, it must be ensured that Pt-catalyst (e. g. TEGOSIL® CAT 500 series) and modifier are kept strictly apart.
