VIGOROX® Ceres is a peracetic acid product for grain malting and processing markets. Grain with an elevated DON toxin level can now be pre-treated to reduce DON concentration to the maximum permissible concentration of 0.5 mg/kg, so maltsters are able to use them for their intended purpose and avoid downgrades, rejection, and high transportation costs.
Prior to steeping, the grain is soaked in Evonik’s solution VIGOROX® Ceres which contains very low concentrations of peracetic acid. PAA is made from hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid and degrades into oxygen, water, and vinegar. It therefore does not represent a hazard to the environment. The use of PAA can also reduce crop losses: grain that previously could not be used for the intended market, can now be used after being washed with Evonik Active Oxygens' VIGOROX® Ceres peracetic acid solution.
Grain malting and processing
Strong antimicrobial effect of peracetic acid: the grain is reliably freed from fungi and other pathogens without polluting the environment and with a significant contribution to reducing losses in quality and yield.
