Job Title : Manager - ESH

Work Location : Jhagadia

Entity : Evonik Speciality Silica India Pvt. Ltd.

Purpose of the position :

• Efficient management of safe working environment in the organization.  Comply all the clauses of ESSIPL ESH policy and provide leadership. Enforcing employees to perform work efficiently meeting safety requirements. Identify, initiate and support plant ESH initiatives and strive to improve and maintain it further through continuous training inputs.

Key Responsibilities :

• Responsible for understanding, maintaining and implementing safety in the plant in accordance with legal and Evonik requirements to meet or exceed.

• Understand and implement Evonik ESH management programs / projects.

• Develop training modules and conduct training for employees and contract workers on various ESH topics to improve their ESH awareness and minimize incidents.

• Prepare and implement compliance plans to meet Permit, Off-Permit and Other Requirements. Review changes in law and inform respective HODs to comply with all applicable government / local laws.

• Maintain records and submit reports/returns to legal authority as per legal requirement.

• Timely submit correct data to SuRe.

• Identify key positions with potential to cause significant ESH impacts and plan their training accordingly.

• Use sound problem solving skills and judgment to identify problems with existing ESH issues and address them. Can communicate knowledgeably and assertively with all departments.

• Demonstrates an understanding of safety processes – ESH Crosswalk, Hazard Hunt, Shramdan, Incident/Near Hit/Miss reporting, ESH Management Programs, Work Permit, Contract Worker Safety, life-saving rule etc. and implement.

• Conduct ESH and other management system audits.

• Incident reporting and communication.

• Work towards sustainability and put efforts on water / energy / electricity savings.

• Work as Jhagadia Process Safety (PSS) Coordinator.

• Support in identifying ESH implications associated with MOC (Management of Change).

• Maintain fire-fighting equipments for its readily availability.

• Work with Global/Regional ESH team to continuously improve upon the understanding and compliance of ESH issues.

• Maintain QMS, EMS, OHSMS procedures as appropriate.

Education, Certification, and Relevant Experience Required

• Postgraduate or Graduate degree in Chemistry or BE in Chemical Engineering, along with a Diploma in Industrial Safety from a recognized institute/university.

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the process chemical manufacturing industry.

Additional Skills and Abilities Required for This Position

• Strong communication skills in English (both verbal and written) and excellent interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively.

• Sound knowledge of ESH (Environment, Safety, Health) legal compliance.

• Result-oriented approach, particularly when interacting with regulatory authorities.
