Digital Core Consultant - Backup&File

• Perform consulting, lead, participate, and support IT/Business projects, RfPs, and PoCs, providing technical guidance for tools and methods related mostly but not limited to File Services and Backup Technologies. 

• Installation, operation and monitoring of File Servers and Backup Servers (Could involve HW, OS and SW according to defined concepts) 

• Space/Capacity Management 

• Development and Optimization of Concept Documents and Operations processes 

• Study developments in Technologies around File Services and Backup in the market and identify opportunities for continual service improvement. 

• Build test environments and conduct tests regarding functionality, practicality, and performance of Windows server standards and underlying tools and features (on-premise and in-cloud) 

• Support problem management with root cause analysis and implementation of adequate solution measures. 

• Manage and coordinate vendors and contractors in the scope of provider management activities. 

• Quality and compliance checks of systems and assets within the scope of the team (e.g. Tenable scan, patch and antivirus management) 

• Automation of tasks and activities 

• Continuous performance analysis of server systems 

• Continuous improvement of availability, quality, and efficiency of existing system solutions 

• Participate in the rotating shift for 2nd/3rd level On-Call duty support 

• Lead, Participate, Contribute in Incident/Major Incident/Problem management activities 

• Request fulfillment of Server Team related Services 

• Actively share know-how in the Group and maintain continuous contact with the customers of the systems and areas within scope 

• Occasional outside-office-hour works for global meeting and maintenance work. 

 
REQUIREMENTS 

• This position requires a BS degree in Computer Science or comparable degree and 5 years of experience. 

• Knowledge / experience in File Service and Backup Technologies in required 

• Knowledge / experience on Microsoft Azure Solutions or similar is required. 

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or other comparable/related certifications are considered advantageous. 

• Good expertise in handling Microsoft client and server operating systems as well as in the area of network technology (in an office and production environment) 

• Server Storage Hardware knowledge is an advantage 

• Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Virtualization and/or VMware VCP-level knowledge is an advantage. 

• Scripting knowledge such as Powershell is an advantage. 

• Any other IT infrastructure certificates and/or experiences such as Storage, Network are an advantage. 

• Several years of professional experience with expertise in the areas of IT Disaster Recovery and thereof Backup Restore for Server Infrastructure. 

• Experience with IT infrastructure implementation projects 

• Project management and/or provider management capabilities will be an advantage. 

• Inventory management skill for a responsible area is required 

• Capable of making decisions based on given standard operation manuals, procedures, compliance and security considerations. 

• Adequate level of verbal and written skills in English is a must. 

• Uses clear and effective verbal communications skills without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on expressing ideas, requesting actions and formulating plans or policies. 

• Supports business processes without supervision by understanding and effectively using standard office equipment and standard software packages, while providing technical guidance as needed. 

• Communicates with other people by speaking in a clear, concise and compelling manner. 

• Willing to travel occasionally on national or international business trips 

• Flexibility in working hours 

• Works with guidance (but not constant supervision) to develop appropriate plans or perform necessary actions based on recommendations and requirements. 

• Works under guidance (but not constant supervision) to analyze data trends for use in reports to help guide decision making.
