Shaping a more sustainable animal nutrition industry together
At Evonik, sustainability is integral to our mission of sciencing the global food challenge. The global animal protein industry uses a significant proportion of natural resources, and emits a high quantity of greenhouse gas and nutrient emissions. Around 65% of these impacts occur in animal feed production. That means that the animal nutrition industry is uniquely placed to drive progress on sustainability performance.
Our strategy
Reducing our footprint for better environmental outcomes
Product LCAs available for almost every product we produce
Externally-certified LCA calculation methodology
Evonik provides reliable data you can trust. The quality of LCA results depends on the quality of input data that was used, as well as many other methodological factors. Evonik’s calculation methodology has been externally certified by TÜV Rheinland against several global standards – namely, ISO standards 14040, 14044 and 14067 and the Together for Sustainability (TfS) Product Carbon Footprint guidelines – demonstrating our commitment to following best practices in sustainability management.
Committed to science-based climate action
In 2023, Evonik set science-based targets that were approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) as consistent with a well-below 2°C (WB2C) pathway. We are committed to reducing emissions in line with the latest climate science, and consequently, we are continually exploring and implementing more sustainable practices in our production processes. This approach not only benefits the environment but also helps our customers meet their own sustainability and regulatory requirements, and assures you that we will continue to reduce our Product Carbon Footprints over time.
