Science-based solutions for more profit
Around two-thirds of the costs in livestock farming are for feed, especially expensive protein and energy sources. The key to an efficient, healthy and sustainable animal nutrition is to provide the animals with all the necessary nutrients in the right balance without overfeeding.
Evonik’s holistic approach, based on science and decades of experience, decreases reliance on costly, high-protein ingredients while maintaining optimal animal health and performance. This improves sustainability and leads to significant cost savings.
At Evonik, we take a unique approach to animal nutrition. Our science-based solutions help farmers use less resources and make more savings, all while providing market-leading products and services that ensure performance and yield.

Optimized feed conversion for more profit
Animals require amino acids, and providing just the right amount –no more, no less – ensures performance is maintained while reducing costs: not only the cost of feed, but cost to the environment and cost to the animal. By minimizing reliance on high-protein, expensive ingredients like soybean meal, low crude protein diets can lead to substantial savings. Supplementing with pure amino acids such as MetAMINO®, Biolys®, and ThreAMINO® ensures that animals receive essential nutrients without overfeeding, resulting in improved feed conversion ratios (FCRs). This means animals need less feed to gain weight, delivering direct cost savings and more profit for producers.
More performance and savings with superior bioefficacy
We often have a choice of materials we can use in feeds. Deciding which material to use should always be based on what the materials can do for you. Bioefficacy – the relative ability of different materials to provide nutrients – informs us of this. Our Bioefficacy‑65 (BE‑65) concept demonstrates that 65 units of MetAMINO® can effectively replace 100 units of other methionine sources, validated by trials involving over 2 million animals worldwide. Put another way, MetAMINO® is 100% pure, methionine hydroxy analog (MHA) is only 65% pure. Using this knowledge helps to reduce the cost of feed, while still supporting livestock.
Less costs with more energy efficiency
Energy is almost always the most expensive nutrient to consider when we are designing a feed. Reducing it can save costs – but often the reduction in growth rates and increase in feed conversion ratio (FCR) means this approach may not be cost-effective, when we see lower returns. Moreover, energy-rich nutrients in animal feed often come from costly sources like soy oil. Products like GuanAMINO®, which enhances animals' energy efficiency, can help here, as can analytical tools like AMINONIR®.

Discover our white paper, which is about the savings possible with low crude protein diets, the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of amino acid supplementation, and how reduced oil consumption in feed saves money.
More gut health for more profit
Improving gut health in livestock can lead to significant savings by enhancing nutrient absorption and reducing feed costs. A healthy gut contributes to better overall animal performance, leading to lower mortality rates and improved feed efficiency. By focusing on gut optimization, producers can achieve healthier, more productive livestock, ultimately translating into greater profitability. Evonik offers a range of solutions to support gut health, including probiotics like Ecobiol®, which help promote a balanced gut microbiota, and SpeoCare® T60, which strengthens gut integrity, improving nutrient utilization.
More balanced feeds for less environmental impact
Helping the environment does not always mean incurring extra costs. By precisely balancing feeds, producers can save money and reduce excess nutrients that cause adverse environmental problems. This is where Evonik’s expertise – developed over decades – can help make a difference.
