What makes TEGO® eCO products different?

Products in the TEGO® eCO portfolio are certified according to the ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) – a voluntarily, globally recognized and trusted standard for sustainable sourcing. These additives are produced using a mass balance approach, which enables the use of renewable or circular raw materials within existing production systems. eCO stands for Evonik’s aim to eliminate CO_2.

How mass balance works

Mass balance allows fossil-based and renewable feedstocks to be mixed in existing systems and production processes. The renewable amount is then mathematically allocated to specific products and certified by a neutral third party to verify the use of renewable or circular resources across all stages of production. Mass balance is a way to keep track of the renewable or circular quantities throughout the process and to allocate them to specific products. It allows for large-scale production and enables cost-effective solutions that meet more stringent environmental and sustainability targets.

TEGO® Foamex 812 eCO

TEGO® Foamex 812 eCO is an effective defoamer concentrate based on polyether siloxane technology. The defoamer is ideal for the grinding phase in combination with more compatible let down defoamers. It also prevents macro-and micro-foam. Suitable applications include pigment concentrates, liquid inks as well as wood coatings. TEGO® Foamex 812 eCO contains more than 60 % renewable carbon (mass balance).

TEGO® Wet 270 eCO

TEGO® Wet 270 eCO is a 100 percent polyether modified siloxane substrate wetting agent. The product shows excellent anti-crater properties with flow promotion in waterborne, solventborne, and radiation-curing coatings. Typical applications include wood coatings and high solid industrial coatings. TEGO® Wet 270 eCO contains more than 40% renewable carbon (mass balance).

ISCC Plus Sustainability Certification

The Goldschmidt site a key production site for TEGO® products is certified by the ISCC organization to operate under the ISCC PLUS certification scheme based on mass balance approach. This certification ensures the exact and complete traceability of the sustainable materials used in our production plants and confirms that the used raw materials originate from sustainable sources.

The ISCC PLUS certification covers our product portfolio produced with sustainable raw materials that are produced based on different feedstocks.
