Effects of 65 parts of DLM replacing 100 parts of MHA-FA in broiler diets
The trial showed that PROXYMet™ (65% DL-methionine, DLM) can replace an equal quantity of MHA-FA in Arber Acres broilers without compromising growth performance, while reducing feed costs. This trial conducted under commercial conditions confirmed the nutritional value of 65% for MHA-FA compared to DLM in broilers.
The customer was convinced by the outcome of this trial and began to replace MHA-FA by MetAMINO® (DL-methionine) in parts of their broiler feed.

| Animals | 1,360 Arber Acres broilers |
| Design | Completely randomized design of 4 treatments with 20 replicates per treatment and 17 birds each |
| Housing | Broilers were fed in a cage system under Buen’s commercial trial farm conditions |
| Diets | Basal diet: corn-soybean meal-based commercial broiler feed. Materials: MHA-FA (liquid MHA, 88% content); PROXYMet™ (MetAMINO® diluted to 65% content with limestone) 1) MHA-FA treatment (Control group): 2) PROXYMet™ treatment: 3) 80% MHA-FA treatment: 4) 80% PROXYMet™ treatment: |
| Feeding | All broilers were raised according to Buen’s standard operation procedures (SOP) under commercial conditions |
| Parameters | Body weight (BW), average daily feed intake (ADFI), feed conversion ratio (FCR) |
| Duration | 35 days |
Trial results
- Birds receiving feed added with PROXYMet™ showed no differences in body weight (Figure 1), average daily feed intake (Figure 2), and FCR (Figure 3) compared to those which received an equal quantity of MHA-FA.
- A 20% reduction of product supplementation did not impair broiler performance suggesting room for a reduction of dietary Met+Cys specifications in general (Figures 1, 2, 3).
- Replacing MHA-FA with PROXYMet™ saved about 7 to 7.7 RMB per ton of broiler feed (Table 1).
