Effect of PROXYMet™ replacing MHA-FA on growth performance in white broilers
The trial showed that PROXYMet™ (65% DL-methionine, DLM) can replace an equal quantity of MHA-FA in white broilers, with no difference in growth performance parameters. It confirmed the nutritional value of 65% for MHA-FA compared to DLM. Using PROXYMet™ to replace equal MHA-FA in white broiler feed can save cost for meat production.
As shown in this trial, PROXYMet™ (65% DL-methionine) can replace 100% MHA-FA in white broilers and reduce diet cost. Our customer was convinced by the outcome of this trial and accepted that the nutritional value of MHA-FA is 65% compared to DL-methionine.

The objective of this trial was to determine the effect of PROXYMet™ (65% DL-methionine) replacing 100% MHA-FA on the performance of white broilers.
Location: Customer’s trial farm in Anhui Province, China
Project team leaders: Daniel Gao, Dr. Brian Wang
| Animals | 1,056 white broilers, as hatched |
| Design | A total of 1,056 broilers was divided into 2 treatments, with 6 pens/replicates per treatment and 88 birds for each pen. |
| Housing | Conducted in the same trial house, with floor rearing system |
| Diets | The feeding period (1-35 days) included 3 feeding phases: 1) MHA-FA treatment: 2) PROXYMet™ treatment: |
| Feeding | Conducted in the same trial house, floor pens |
| Parameters | Body weight (BW)
Feed conversion ratio (FCR) Survival European Performance Efficiency Factor (EPEF) |
| Duration | 1-35 days |
Trial results
- There were no statistically significant differences between the PROXYMet™ group and MHA-FA group in white broilers in terms of final body weight (BW), feed conversion ratio (FCR), survival rate, and European Performance Efficiency Factor (EPEF, Figures 1, 2, 3, 4)
- Adding PROXYMet™ replacing an equal quantity of MHA-FA in white broiler feed can save about 10, 9, 8.8 RMB/t cost in the three feeding phases (Table 1), respectively.
