A New Benchmark in Regulatory Readiness
Regulatory requirements for siloxanes continue to evolve in Europe. Certain low-molecular-weight siloxanes have been classified as SVHCs due to their persistence and bioaccumulation profile, while new EU hazard classes for PBT and vPvB substances create additional classification and labeling requirements when present above defined thresholds.
Evonik anticipated these developments early. Through continuous process optimization and careful raw material selection, extensive analytical testing has confirmed that more than 95% of Evonik’s active siloxane-based coating additives contain less than 0.1% of relevant SVHC substances. This enables customers to continue using TEGO® siloxane technologies without reformulation or switching to costly purified alternatives.
