Release Coatings and Liner Technologies
Evonik offers highly efficient UV-curing release coatings and release liner technologies used in pressure sensitive labels (PSA), tapes, hygiene products and a wide range of electronic, industrial and construction applications.
Our solutions provide clean, consistent release performance and are designed to support high‑speed processing, durable anchorage and excellent converting behaviour across diverse substrates.
More than 40 years of innovation with TEGO® RC Silicones
Evonik launched its pioneering free-radical TEGO® RC silicones for UV-curing release coatings in 1985. Over the past four decades, our commitment to continuous innovation has shaped a portfolio that consistently sets new standards in release‑liner technology for the benefit of our customers. A major milestone was the launch of our linerless solution in 2006, which advanced liner‑free applications and supported global efforts to minimise waste.
More recently, we've expanded the portfolio with Next Generation Solutions featuring UV LED-curable technologies and recycled content options, enabling greater sustainability and more resource‑efficient production. Learn more below.
We remain focused on innovation in TEGO® RC Silicone Release Coatings, delivering high‑performance, energy‑efficient and increasingly sustainable solutions for the future of release‑liner technology.

Releasing Innovation: TEGO® RC SILICONES for Faster, Leaner Production
TEGO® RC silicone release coatings cure at low tempretures, enabling the use of heat-sensitive substrates and opening up new performance advantages and business opportunities. Film thickness on PE, PP or PVC films can be reduced to lower material costs, and paper substrates require no remoisturising while still achieving excellent lay‑flat performance. The fast-cure profile also allows TEGO® RC Silicones to run in inline processes, alongside adhesive coating, while supporting very high line speeds.
As UV curing equipment is very compact, existing coating and converting lines can be easily retrofitted with siliconizing capabilities. Compared with thermal ovens, UV curing also provides significant energy, space and cost savings. Many of our TEGO® RC products additionally carry food contact approvals (ISEGA, FDA/FCN) when formulated and cured as specified.
In close cooperation with our customers, we identify the most appropriate silicone technology and product formulation, whether free-radical curing silicone acrylates or cationic curing epoxy silicones—to meet specific performance and processing requirements.
Typical fields of application include the production and conversion of label products (liner-based and linerless), graphic arts, tapes, hygiene products, and a broad range of industrial and construction applications, from electronic die cutting and composites to roofing, insulation and waterproofing materials.
Driving Circularity in the Label Industry
Evonik is actively engaged in strengthening the circularity and future readiness of the self‑adhesive label industry. By collaborating with leading associations and initiatives across Europe, we help drive progress on key sustainability challenges while supporting knowledge exchange, technical excellence, and industry‑wide best practices. Two important pillars of this engagement are our contributions to CELAB-Europe and FINAT.
Evonik is a proud member of Europe’s Leading Label Industry Initiative, CELAB - Circular Economy for Labels. CELAB is an industry initiative bringing together companies of all sizes across the self-adhesive label value chain to advance the - aiming to build a circular economy for label materials. Key topics include the handling of matrix waste and the recycling of release liners.
As a participant of the CELAB-Europe project, Evonik shares the same vision: facilitating collaboration across the industry and enabling a more circular self-adhesive label sector through cost effective solutions, technical expertise and education that support both liner and matrix recycling.
Evonik plays an active role in FINAT, the European association of the self-adhesive label industry. FINAT provides a key networking platform for converters, suppliers, and supporting industries, representing members' interests while offering education, technical publications and label industry insights. Beyond serving as a central source of industry information, FINAT helps establish and maintain best practices, standards and test methods that reflect the industry's needs at the EU level.
Over the years, Evonik has been an active contributor within FINAT’s marketing and technical subcommittees, supporting the development of knowledge, standards and innovation across the self‑adhesive label value chain.
