Powerful Performance & Lasting Protection with VISIOMER® HEMA-P
VISIOMER® HEMA-P is a high-performance methacrylate monomer that delivers strong adhesion, flame retardancy, and corrosion resistance. Designed for coatings, adhesives, and composites, it ensures long-lasting durability and improved bonding—especially in halogen-free and transparent systems.
Ideal for industrial applications, VISIOMER® HEMA-P helps manufacturers achieve better strength-to-weight ratios and reliable performance on polar substrates like glass, metal, and minerals.
Functional Monomers for Adhesion and Corrosion Protection in Coatings and Composites
VISIOMER® HEMA-P is a phosphate methacrylate designed to enhance performance across a wide range of applications. Its unique chemical structure enables strong adhesion, improved corrosion resistance, and compatibility with various resin systems. Below, you’ll find key application areas where VISIOMER® HEMA-P delivers measurable value in formulation and end-use performance.
Application Areas
VISIOMER® HEMA-P is a well-established adhesion promoter used in applications such as adhesives and coating resins. As a functional co-monomer, it enables strong adhesion to polar surfaces including minerals, glass, and metals.
VISIOMER® HEMA-P products can be used as co-reactive diluents in unsaturated polyester (UPR) and vinyl ester (VE) composite resins. The phosphate group contributes to inherent flame-retardant properties. As a polymerizable methacrylate monomer, VISIOMER® HEMA-P acts as a non-migrating flame retardant additive. It enables the formulation of halogen-free, filler-free flame-retardant composite materials.
Corrosion protection is a critical performance requirement for coatings, especially in waterborne systems where maintaining long-term resistance is challenging. Studies on acrylic emulsions containing 7 wt% VISIOMER® HEMA-P 70M show improved corrosion resistance compared to formulations without dedicated anti-corrosion additives.
As an adhesion promoter, VISIOMER® HEMA-P enhances the bonding between the composite matrix and glass fibers, resulting in increased interlaminar shear strength (ILSS). This contributes to improved mechanical performance and supports a favorable strength-to-weight ratio in glass fiber-reinforced composites.
