Application - Radiation Curing Formulation

Evonik’s VISIOMER® Specialty Methacrylates portfolio for 3D printing offers advanced functional methacrylates for radiation-curable formulations, enabling formulators to elevate the performance of their 3D printing resins. These methacrylates enhance solvency for oligomers, improve printability, and allow precise tuning of mechanical properties. Difunctional monomers like VISIOMER® HEMA-TMDI deliver high mechanical strength through enhanced intermolecular bonding, high heat deflection temperature (HDT), and fast curing kinetics for rapid layer formation. It also contributes to improved toughness when combined with other hydroxyl-functional monomers. VISIOMER® GDMA supports strong crosslinking performance, while VISIOMER® IBOA offers good UV curing and high mechanical properties after curing, along with excellent weather and chemical resistance, making it ideal for high-performance applications. For sustainable innovation, VISIOMER® Terra PEG 200 DMA and VISIOMER® Terra ISDMA — both partially bio-based —support the development of advanced resin formulations for 3D printing. VISIOMER® Terra PEG 200 DMA acts as a reactive diluent with low odor and low hazard potential, while VISIOMER® Terra ISDMA enables high heat deflection temperatures through effective crosslinking. With VISIOMER®, formulators gain a versatile toolbox for creating high-performance, customizable, and sustainability-driven 3D printing resins for SLA and DLP technologies.

Application - Dental Care

Artificial teeth and dentures are manufactured using the monomer/polymer method. Here, formulations typically contain a certain amount of multifunctional methacrylates, e.g. VISIOMER® EGDMA. Composites for crowns and bridges, fillings and adhesives contain high molecular weight multifunctional methacrylates that show minimum shrinkage during polymerization, e.g. VISIOMER® HEMATMDI, as well as low-molecular-weight multifunctional methacrylates for viscosity adjustment, such as VISIOMER® TRGDMA. Dental applications also require monomers that can be light cured. Due to its reactivity, VISIOMER® HEMATMDI is one of the methacrylate monomers that is specifically dedicated to this application.

VISIOMER® Specialty Methacrylates for Pressure Sensitive Adhesives

Pressure Sensitive Adhesives (PSAs) are a cornerstone of modern adhesive technology, especially in industries like packaging, labeling, and lamination. Evonik provides comprehensive solutions for pressure sensitive adhesives (PSA), ensuring high adhesive performance and versatility for various applications. Our offerings include additives for high-quality adhesive formulations and essential components like release liners and silicone release coatings.

Acrylic PSAs, in particular, offer excellent adhesion, clarity, and durability—making them ideal for tapes, labels, and protective films.

To enhance the performance of water-based PSAs, we offer methacrylate monomers such as VISIOMER® MEEU 25 M and VISIOMER® MEEU 50 W. These monomers act as comonomers in emulsion polymer formulations, improving both adhesion and cohesion. Their inclusion helps tailor the mechanical properties of the adhesive, ensuring it performs reliably across a wide range of substrates and conditions. Building on this, VISIOMER® HEMA-P enhances adhesion to polar substrates such as metal and glass by incorporating phosphoric acid ester groups into acrylic PSA formulations—delivering stronger, more reliable bonds in demanding applications.

Application - Crop Protection & Treatment

Highly efficient plant protection is more important than ever before with the world’s population on the rise and global climate changes being felt around the world. The appropriate use of fertilizer and crop protection products such as herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, biocides and biostimulants helps to minimize crop losses.

Evonik offers specialty adjuvants, additive solutions, biocompatible formulants, seed treatment additives and water management solutions that increase agricultural performance and sustainability. Our specialty adjuvants (tank-mix) are surfactants or surface-active agents that change the physical properties of the spray solutions. These innovative monomers enable tailored performance by improving formulation stability, active ingredient dispersibility, and surface interaction—ensuring reliable handling, application, and persistence on crops across all levels of water hardness. Hydrophilic VISIOMER® grades, such as VISIOMER® MPEG 750 MA W or VISIOMER® MPEG 1005 MA W, support solubility and dispersion in aqueous systems. For hydrophobic functionality, VISIOMER® Terra C13-MA, Terra C17,4 MA, and BNMA offer tunable adsorption, rainfastness, and flocculation control through varying degrees of hydrophobicity. This versatility allows formulators to design surfactants that meet the specific challenges of modern crop protection—ensuring reliable performance across diverse environmental conditions and application methods.
