VESTANAT® EP-MF 204 — Balanced Flexibility, Strong Scratch Resistance & Optimized Drying
The VESTANAT® EP-MF Series consists of solventfree, ready-to-use crosslinkers that can be used as sole binders or blended with a variety of co-binding agents such as acrylic polyols. Designed for ambient-temperature curing and compatibility with a broad range of substrates, these binders offer formulators a flexible platform for modern, isocyanate free 1K coatings.
VESTANAT® EP-MF 204 contains a higher urethane content, providing a more balanced performance profile combining enhanced flexibility, reliable scratch resistance and optimized drying behavior.
Typical Applications
Clear Coats (wood, plastic, maintenance, car refinish)
- Can be used as a sole binder or with compatible resins (e.g., acrylates) to create durable, scratch-resistant coatings with smooth film formation and strong surface performance across multiple substrates.
1K Systems Without Isocyanate Hardeners
- Eliminates the need for additional crosslinkers, enabling true 1K coatings, reducing formulation complexity and supporting safer, more flexible processing.
These application advantages make VESTANAT® EP-MF 204 a versatile choice for high-quality 1K coating systems requiring performance, flexibility, durability and broad substrate compatibility.
Benefits at a glance
- Ready to use 1K self-crosslinking system – Enables easy formulation without additional crosslinkers, simplifying processing while ensuring strong film formation.
- Fast curing cycles, at ambient temperature – Supports efficient production workflows and rapid handling, ideal for applications requiring short turnaround times.
- 100% active ingredient – Provides maximum formulation efficiency, consistent film formation and performance with no added solvents.
- Excellent chemical resistance and anti-graffiti properties – Delivers robust protection against harsh chemicals and allows easy surface cleaning without damaging the coating.
- Decontaminable – Maintains appearance, allowing effective cleaning and restoration after exposure to aggressive contaminants.
- Outstanding scratch resistance with enhanced flexibility – Balanced performance enabled by higher urethane content, forming a hard, resilient surface that maintains high-quality appearance under mechanical stress.
Together, these advantages make VESTANAT® EP-MF 204 a powerful choice for modern coating systems that demand robust, flexible performance, easy processing, and long-lasting durability.

A Toolbox for Custom-Designed Coating Solutions
The VESTANAT® EP-M Series technology platform is based on IPMS chemistry, and the corresponding PUR adducts opens up a wide range of formulation possibilities for scratch-resistant coatings across a plethora of substrates such as wood, plastic, metals and many more. Depending on curing conditions, processing needs and required performance, formulators can choose multiple options to create truly tailor-made coating solutions.
Two Technology Pathways for Maximum Design Freedom
VESTANAT® EP-M grades: PUR–Silane Hybrid Technology
VESTANAT® EP-M grades are PUR-silane hybrid binders suitable for both room temperature and elevated-temperature curing. They enable the formulation of highly scratch-resistant coatings with robust chemical durability and strong mechanical performance.
VESTANAT® EP-MF grades: Ready-to-Use 1K Moisture-curable Systems
VESTANAT® EP-MF grades are self-crosslinking IPMS-PUR adducts that enable a ready-to-use, 1K solution for moisture-curable systems for room temperature applications with short drying times. These grades combine the favorable properties of PUR technology with glass-like hardness, all in a single, isocyanate-free component —ideal for modern, low VOC, easy-to-process coatings.
