Body and paint shop sealer
POLYVEST® based heat curable adhesives & sealants are commonly used for car doors, engine hoods, lift gates and seams in automotive assembly.
Joints between component parts may be secured, filled or sealed with such compositions. Formulations can be adjusted to different substrates, viscosities and curing conditions. These products are cured to develop full strength and durability of the joints and seals by passing stoving ovens during assembly of the car. The final products have an excellent adhesion on metals and pre-coated metals. Depending on the formulation, the products can be soft and flexible or hard with certain elongation. POLYVEST® is used in one-pack or two-pack formulations.
Car carpets
VESTOPLAST® based heavy coating compounds are used in preshaped car carpets to ensure an excellent dimensional stability after the pressing step.Hereby VESTOPLAST® offers a constant product quality and an excellent recyclability.
Head Lamp Adhesives
Hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB), which is being marketed under the trade name POLYVEST® HT by Evonik is well established as polymeric binder for high quality PU adhesives for automotive head lamps.
Interior bonding and lamination
Automotive interior parts are traditionally made by assembling and laminating adhesives. Today's needs for greater comfort and aesthetics have resulted in the use of new, and very often difficult to bond, materials such as decor films or fabrics which require higher performance adhesives. Also, ecological and economical aspects are becoming key drivers for adhesive selection. Tailor-made co-polyester-based hotmelts are particularly suited to meet the increased requirements. DYNACOLL® S thermoplastic hotmelts are used in place of flame lamination due to their superior low-VOC content (low fogging), high softness and flexibility. DYNACOLL® 7000 based reactive hotmelts are well known for their versatile adhesion properties and very high temperature resistance.
Sound damper
With POLYVEST® formulations benefit from low viscosity, excellent adhesion on electrocoating primers, low temperature flexibility, low-VOC and low fogging combined with good acoustic properties. These compositions can be highly filled and are easy to apply by hand or industry robots in modern automotive assembly.

Windshields
Bonding of glass windows to the body is part of the passive safety concept. Therefore adhesives with high mechanical properties, elasticity and durability are required. Moisture curing PUR formulations are modified with crystalline DYNACOLL® S copolyesters tailoring initial strength and modulus. Quick setting adhesives lead to shorter drive-away times after repairing.
