Bitumen Modification

VESTOPLAST® modified bitumen for waterproofing membranes show outstanding properties like high heat resistance, excellent cold temperature flexibility, high softening point, high resistance to thermo oxidative ageing, high UV-resistance and excellent processability during the waterproofing membrane production.

VESTOWAX® is used to increase softening point and to reduce the viscosity of bitumen.

The unfunctionalized POLYVEST® and the hydroxyl-terminated POLYVEST® HT contribute to reductions of viscosity as well as softening point of bitumen membranes by its typical characteristics. In addition, POLYVEST® HT in being incorporated as reactive component in bitumen systems.

Edge Bonding & Profile Wrapping

Hot melt adhesives are used for bonding various kinds of edges or plastic films to fiberboards providing high productivity due to physical setting.

Thermoplastic VESTOPLAST® based hot melts are recommended for applications where heat resistance up to 120°C is needed.

 

DYNACOLL® 7000 based reactive hot melts have to be used for furniture, e.g. for kitchens and bathrooms where high temperature resistance as well as water vapor resistance is requested.

 

DYNACOLL® S copolyester based reactive hot melts are primarily used for laminating PVC films on window frames made of PVC or aluminum for decorative purposes. Green strength has to be very high in order to obtain high productivity. Outdoor applications, in particular, have very high temperature and weather resistance requirements.

Flat Lamination & Sandwich Construction

Flat lamination adhesives, e.g. for panel bonding and sandwich construction, need to have very long handling times .

 

Reactive hotmelts based on DYNACOLL® 7000 polyesterpolyols and DYNACOLL® AC acrylics provide very long open time combined with high initial creep resistance. As they are low viscosity, one component adhesives they can easily be applied at low melting temperatures without further mixing and be used as substitute for the previously used two component liquid polyurethanes.


Insulated Glass Sealants

With its low water vapor permeability, its flexibility at low temperatures, its good UV stability and good adhesion properties, VESTOPLAST® is used in sealants for multi-glazed windows as well as in solar cells.

Hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB), which is being marketed under the trade name POLYVEST® HT by Evonik, is the major polymeric binder for high quality PU secondary window sealants for insulated glass units. Due to its low moisture and oxygen permeability and good compatibility with other components, POLYVEST® HT based secondary window sealants achieve highest quality standards.

Road Construction

Road construction

 

The addition of Evonik products to the bituminous binders used in road construction does not only enhance the performance of road surfaces, it also makes construction work easier and safer.

 

APAOs from the VESTOPLAST® product range improve the low temperature flexibility, whereas VESTOWAX® Fischer-Tropsch hard paraffins decrease the viscosity of the binder and therefore allow processing at lower temperatures, resulting in energy savings and reduction of emissions. In addition to this, VESTOPLAST® as well as VESTOWAX® increases the deformation resistance at elevated temperatures.

 

Road marking compounds

 

The admixture of small amounts of VESTOPLAST® to hydrocarbon resin based road marking compounds can avoid the crack initiation during utilization. VESTOWAX® Fischer-Tropsch hard paraffins reduce the dirt pick as well as secure faster setting and therefore diminish the abrasion of road marking compounds right after application onto the road.


Sand Filled Mortar

POLYVEST® is a binder in grouts that are applied as a filler between paving tiles or other paving materials like natural-stones or concrete blocks.

It reacts fast with atmospheric oxygen to form peroxides and undergoes cross-linking in its presence. These formulations provide fast drying, high bending and crushing strength, good water resistance, resistance to acids, bases, salt and frost. POLYVEST® based sand filled mortars have a good water penetration and weed control.

Sealing

Silicone Consumer Sealants

POLYVEST® is used as a hydrophobic wetting agent in one-pack sealers for sanitary and DIY applications. The formulations are commonly chalk filled and based on silicone rubbers.

Solar Cell Sealants

Discover VESTOPLAST® as raw material for adhesives and sealants for solar panels and solar cells. Excellent adhesion to glass surfaces and other critical to bond substrates. Cross-linking provides outstanding thermal and mechanical properties.
