Innovative Active Ingredients
Evonik’s 2016 acquisition of Alkion Biopharma brought cutting-edge biotechnology to our portfolio. By leveraging Alkion’s expertise in natural cultivation and extraction methods, we now offer innovative plant-based actives that deliver high performance, helping formulators create products that are both effective and naturally inspired.
Alternative Preservation and Formulation Expertise
With the acquisition of Dr. Straetmans in 2017, Evonik became a leader in alternative preservative systems for cosmetics. Our Hamburg site now serves as a global competence center for preservation, enabling us to provide complete formulation solutions that combine safety, stability, and sustainability - giving customers more options for clean beauty formulations.
Plant-Derived Actives
Evonik’s 2020 acquisition of Wilshire Technologies expanded our ability to deliver natural, plant-based ingredients for personal care. This move strengthened our commitment to sustainability and innovation, allowing customers to access a broader range of eco-friendly actives for next-generation beauty products.
Biological and Bioinformatics
By acquiring InnovativeHealth Group in 2021, Evonik added fermentation-based technologies and bioinformatic expertise to our portfolio. This enables us to develop high-performance, biotech-driven actives for skin and hair care, supporting customers in creating products that meet the growing demand for sustainable and science-backed beauty solutions.
Active Delivery Systems
Evonik’s acquisition of Infinitec Activos in 2021 introduced state-of-the-art delivery technologies such as encapsulation and controlled release. These platforms enhance the stability and efficacy of active ingredients, allowing us to offer customers complete system solutions that combine actives, delivery systems, and formulation know-how for superior product performance.
Sustainable Botanical Extracts
With the acquisition of Botanica in 2021, Evonik strengthened its position in sustainable plant-based actives.
