Our peracetic acid, also known as peroxyacetic acid, is a liquid mixture of hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid (vinegar). The fundamental way to deliver oxygen, by organic peroxide is present in chemical and industrial processes everywhere we look.

What Is Peracetic Acid Used for?

The organic chemical compound is used as a sustainable biocide for aseptic packaging of food and beverages, in cosmetics and for hair bleaching, for environmentally friendly water and wastewater treatment, for smart sustainable aquaculture solutions, for disinfection in agriculture, for chemical synthesis, for sterilization in hospital hygiene or for cleaning and disinfection of laundry and textiles.

Some Facts about Peracetic Acid
Peracetic acid is a versatile oxidizing agent that dissolves easily in water and decomposes into non-toxic by-products. Evonik is one of the leading producers of peracetic acid and has developed a wide offering of high quality products, ranging in concentration from 5% to 40% peracetic acid in equilibrium solution. The different concentrations are used in chemical synthesis, bleaching, sanitization, disinfection, hygiene and sterilization across a variety of industries, including food and beverage such as fruit and vegetable processing, poultry processing, environmental remediation, industrial cleaning and sanitization, and oil and gas production.

Registration of our Peracetic Acid as a Biocide

PAA formulations are registered for use as a sanitizer, disinfectant and sterilant by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as an antimicrobial agent by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) as well as an active substance and biocidal product under the European Biocide Product Directive (BPR).
