The organic chemical compound is used as a sustainable biocide for aseptic packaging of food and beverages, in cosmetics and for hair bleaching, for environmentally friendly water and wastewater treatment, for smart sustainable aquaculture solutions, for disinfection in agriculture, for chemical synthesis, for sterilization in hospital hygiene or for cleaning and disinfection of laundry and textiles.

Various grades and several tailor made recipes are available under the following tradenames: PERACLEAN®, SPECTRUM®, BLITZ®, CLARITY®, VIGOROX®, and OXYPURE®.

Some Facts about Peracetic Acid
Peracetic acid is a versatile oxidizing agent that dissolves easily in water and decomposes into non-toxic by-products. Evonik is one of the leading producers of peracetic acid and has developed a wide offering of high quality products, ranging in concentration from 5% to 40% peracetic acid in equilibrium solution. The different concentrations are used in chemical synthesis, bleaching, sanitization, disinfection, hygiene and sterilization across a variety of industries, including food and beverage such as fruit and vegetable processing, poultry processing, environmental remediation, industrial cleaning and sanitization, and oil and gas production.

PERACLEAN®

PERACLEAN® is Evonik's standard peracetic acid grade for a broad range of industrial applications. It acts as an oxidizer and effective disinfectant for surfaces, equipment, instruments, and water systems in multiple industries.

SPECTRUM®

SPECTRUM® is a versatile, cost-effective, peracetic acid-based antimicrobial agent to boost food safety in poultry processing. Ideal for use in various stages, it maintains the highest hygiene standards in chicken, turkey, and duck processing.

BLITZ®

BLITZ® is a peracetic acid-based antimicrobial agent for use in red meat applications. It can be applied directly to red meat carcasses, parts, and organs to effectively reduce contamination.

CLARITY®

CLARITY® is an EPA-registered and FDA-approved peracetic acid antimicrobial agent and sterilant for use in beverage and dairy applications to sterilize packaging materials.

VIGOROX®

VIGOROX® is Evonik's versatile peracetic acid, available in multiple grades for wastewater treatment, agricultural applications, or industrial cleaning processes. It can serve as a disinfectant, slimicide, fungicide, antimicrobial agent, or biocide.

OXYPURE®

OXYPURE® acts as a disinfectant in a broad spectrum of applications. Specialized grades are available for drinking water treatment or surface disinfection in the food industry.

Registration of our Peracetic Acid as a Biocide

PAA formulations are registered for use as a sanitizer, disinfectant and sterilant by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as an antimicrobial agent by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) as well as an active substance and biocidal product under the European Biocide Product Directive (BPR).
