Having been actively involved in Thailand in several different industries for more than 30 years, Evonik opened its first office in the country in 1989. Today, Evonik Thailand focuses on serving the automotive industry, food and animal feed industry, as well as the paints and coatings industry through a sales office in Bangkok and a production site in Rayong producing high-quality precipitated silica and Aluminium Silicates.
In 2014, Evonik expanded the local silica production site through its joint venture with Oriental Siam Company. The precipitated silica (Sipernat® and Ultrasil®) produced by Evonik can be used in tires, paints and coatings, food, cosmetics, drugs, or silicon applications manufacturing.
Thailand, historically known as Siam, is located at the center of the Indochinese Peninsula with a population of almost 70 million people. In fact, Tai people migrated from southwestern China to mainland Southeast Asia around ten centuries ago. Today, Thailand is considered a middle power in global affairs and ranks very high on the Human Development Index.
