The Marl Chemical Park is one of the largest chemical sites in Germany.

Around 100 production facilities covering an area of approximately 600 hectares are closely linked in terms of materials and energy. Most of the facilities operate around the clock. 

State-of-the-art gas and steam turbine power plants produce the necessary energy and have reduced the chemical park's CO2 emissions by around one million tons per year compared to the days when energy was generated by coal-fired power plants. 

In the Rhine-Main region, one of Europe's most powerful and dynamic economic areas, Evonik operates the Wolfgang Industrial Park in Hanau. 

The site has its roots in the Royal Prussian Gunpowder Factory, founded in 1875, and has been continuously modernized and expanded since then. In its current form, the industrial park has existed since 2001.

Covering an area of 820,000 square meters, the site has developed into a highly efficient production and research center for materials technology, chemistry, and pharmaceuticals. A total of eight internationally active companies are based here. Around 3,000 employees work on-site for Evonik Industries.

Since July 1, 2026, Evonik’s headquarters have been located in the Evonik Tower at Opernplatz  1 in Essen, Germany. The architectural landmark on Opernplatz offers modern workplaces with open layouts, digital and hybrid spaces, as well as a multipurpose studio for a wide range of corporate events.

At Opernplatz, Evonik benefits from an excellent location in the heart of Essen, directly opposite the Philharmonie and the Stadtgarten and just a short walk from the main railway station.

Covering an area of 32 hectares, the plant is the workplace of around 2,000 employees. The Goldschmidtstrasse chemical site has a long tradition: the plant has been a major industrial player in the city since 1889.

Production focuses on raw materials, auxiliaries, additives, and active ingredients, which are primarily required for the manufacture of consumer goods and in the chemical industry.

In 1909, Dr. Otto Röhm laid the foundation stone for Evonik's Darmstadt site. Today, around 1,500 people work here – including around 150 trainees and students.

The Evonik Custom Solutions and Advanced Technologies divisions operate on the 16-hectare site. Since 1969, the Darmstadt site has included the Weiterstadt site, which is about 2 kilometres away and covers almost 10 hectares.

Evonik produces the ROHACELL® product in Darmstadt and offers its customers support in the field of application with several technical centers. The Oil Additives division offers improved flow properties of lubricants with its oil additives under the VISCOPLEX® brand, produced in Weiterstadt. The Health Care division offers products, technologies and services in the field of pharmaceutical polymers under the EUDRAGIT and RESOMER® brands.
