Europe is the home of our headquarters and has the largest number of Evonik sites that offer jobs for all experience levels.
Evonik runs single production plants or complete sites in more than 10 European countries, including Germany, the home to our headquarters, Austria, France, the UK, Italy, Belgium, Finland, Switzerland, and Norway. Additionally, we have smaller branch offices across the continent. In Germany, Marl hosts Evonik's largest site in the world in addition to several other key production sites across the country and the headquarters in Essen.
The Evonik presence in Europe dates back to the 1840s when the Goldschmidt site was first founded. In the following one hundred and fifty years, several German industrial companies launched and merged to later form the two conglomerates Hüls AG and Degussa AG, which were eventually merged into one company and formed Evonik.
Known as the center of the old world, Europe offers a truly dynamic and multicultural life and work experience. The continent is divided into fifty countries with a total population of approximately 750 million people and benefits from a very well-connected rail and road infrastructure that makes moving across Europe as easy as traveling within one country. Europe is also home to some of the world's largest economies, such as Germany, the UK, France, Italy & Russia.

Most countries require a special visa if you are planning to work there. However, it is important to note that many countries in Europe are a part of the Schengen area, a zone where 27 European countries, abolished their internal borders, for the free and unrestricted movement of people. This means that if you are from a country that is a part of the Schengen zone, you may not require a visa to work in another country in the same zone. Our local site managers and their assistants can help you find out what the regulations are for their specific location.
It is always a good idea to speak the local language of the country you plan to live and work in. However, this is not always required at Evonik since English is the main business communication language in all our locations.
