As a Contracts Paralegal, you’ll support Evonik’s legal team across a broad mix of contract, NDA, and general legal operations work. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, works independently, and is comfortable taking ownership of both traditional paralegal responsibilities and administrative projects.

A significant focus of this role will be supporting the NDA process, with the opportunity to grow into independently managing NDAs for the region. You’ll also work closely with attorneys and business colleagues on contracts, legal systems, compliance activities, reporting, and other departmental priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft, review, revise, and facilitate NDAs, with increasing responsibility for managing the NDA process from initial request through completion.

  • Support attorneys with drafting, reviewing, and updating commercial agreements, contract templates, and related legal processes.

  • Review proposed contract changes, identify issues, and determine when matters should be escalated to an attorney.

  • Work directly with business colleagues to gather information, move legal matters forward, and provide appropriate guidance or pushback when needed.

  • Maintain legal contract databases, trackers, files, organizational charts, intranet content, and other legal systems.

  • Coordinate Compliance and Anti-Trust training and support related tracking, reporting, and administrative activities.

  • Support cost center administration, departmental reporting, and other organizational needs across the legal team.

  • Provide support to attorneys and other paralegals on legal and departmental projects, taking on additional responsibilities as team needs evolve.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate’s degree or higher strongly preferred, with completion of an accredited paralegal certificate program required.

  • Approximately 5+ years of paralegal experience highly preferred, ideally supporting customer or commercial contracts.

  • Hands-on experience drafting, reviewing, and revising contracts, including NDAs, service agreements, consulting agreements, or similar commercial agreements.

  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of work in an environment where responsibilities may continue to evolve.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work effectively with attorneys, business colleagues, and external partners and provide appropriate pushback when needed.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and research skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and other standard PC and internet-based applications.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in an in-house legal department.

  • Experience with Westlaw and Practical Law.

  • Experience using legal contract management or matter management systems such as Serengeti.

  • Current Notary Public certification, or willingness to obtain certification after hire.
