Dynasylan® for improved dispersion and processability
Dynasylan® for improved dispersion and processability Silanes build molecular bridges in composites
Many thermoplastics and synthetic resins are reinforced with inorganic minerals such as talc or quartz. In order for these fillers to be firmly embedded into the plastic matrix, their mineral surface needs to be chemically modified. Functional organosilanes and silane oligomers form a molecular bridge between the mineral and the polymer. This has numerous benefits. For example, the fillers can be dispersed better even at higher filler contents, the adhesion between the two materials is stronger, the rheological properties of the formulation are influenced, and much more. Users benefit from improved mechanical properties, receiving a reinforced, high-performance product.
Silanes from the Dynasylan® portfolio allow the surfaces of inorganic fillers to be modified in such a way that they are better distributed in the plastic and the adhesion to the organic polymer is significantly improved. Evonik’s silane experts work with their customers to develop tailored solutions for resource-efficient, cost-effective production of high-quality, long-lasting composites and high-fill thermoplastics.
Applications:
- Hydrophobization of fillers such as quartz or talc

Benefits:
- Better distribution of fillers
- Higher filler content
- Better flow capability and formability
- Improved adhesion
- Longer polymer lifespans
- Better water absorption behavior
- Easier further processing
- Lower production costs
Silanes for Filler and Pigment Treatment
More and more plastics are being filled with inorganic minerals in order to enhance their mechanical properties. But it is only when silanes are used that the fillers are optimally distributed and the functionality of the polymers is significantly improved.
