Our Smart Effects business line provides a unique product portfolio of fumed and precipitated silica products under our brands AEROSIL® fumed silica, SIPERNAT® specialty silica, SPHERILEX®, ULTRASIL®, and ZEODENT® - delivering the right silica solution for diverse applications.

Besides silica, we offer complementary solution, including AERODISP® ready-to-use dispersions, AEROXIDE® fumed metal oxides, and functional silanes.

Keeping logistics routes as short as possible enhances efficiency, reduces costs, and lowers CO₂ emissions.

With our own production facilities for chlorosilanes (STC), a precursor for silica, at our most important assets in Europe, we are independent of third-party suppliers. This puts us in a unique position among global silica manufacturers in terms of production stability and supply chain reliability.

In 1942, Evonik’s predecessor Degussa invented the flame hydrolysis pathway for fumed silica production in Germany. That's why silica is part of our DNA. We can draw on more than 80 years of expertise in the production and particle design of synthetic amorphous silica (SAS) and more than 70 years of experience in the production of fumed metal oxides.
