The portfolio of AEROXIDE® fumed metal oxides comprises highly pure nanostructured aluminum oxides, titanium dioxides, and mixed oxides for various technical applications.

Evonik has initially developed and continuously optimized the production process for highly pure metal oxides via high-temperature flame hydrolysis. Based on more than 70 years of innovation and experience, we offer a broad portfolio of highly pure AEROXIDE® aluminum oxides (Al2O3), AEROXIDE® titanium dioxides (TIO2) and AEROXIDE® mixed oxides with different primary particle size distribution, structure, and specific surface areas, as well as hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties. AEROXIDE® fumed TIO2 and Al2O3 oxides are used as pure raw materials, auxiliary materials, or additives in a broad range of technical applications.

Its antistatic effect makes AEROXIDE® aluminum oxide a highly effective free-flow additive for technical powders or polymer granules. It acts as spacer, reducing friction and neutralizing electrostatic charge among particles. An important application for AEROXIDE® aluminum oxide is powder coating where it contributes to environmentally friendly, solvent-free coating systems.

AEROXIDE® titanium dioxide provides specific physio-chemical properties for use as a catalyst carrier and active component in photocatalytic reactions, and as a heat stabilizer for silicones.

AEROXIDE® fumed metal oxides also serve as abrasives in chemical-mechanical polishing of microchip wafers, improve the quality of ink jet paper coatings, control tribal electric effects in toner powders, and much more.

Evonik’s AEROXIDE® products contribute to the next-gen, environmentally friendly mobility: They increase the safety, performance and longevity of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles. AEROXIDE® titanium dioxide, moreover, is a potential catalyst material in the production of synthetic CO2-neutral e-fuels from renewable energies via Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.
