RESPONSIBILITIES

Implement the applicable Singapore WSH and Evonik regulations related to occupational safety and ensure compliance by

  • Providing training on ESH related matters including Permits, Site Induction, Occupational Health, Emergency Response etc.
  • Developing and maintaining procedures to comply with company site safety, Health, Governmental regulations and compliance matters
  • Maintaining current safety & health process implementation & evaluation as per Singapore WSH standards
  • Assisting the health and safety manager with implementation of Safety Plans, Training Plans, Safety Meetings, Audits & Inspections, Investigations and other related tasks in the plants including contractor pre-qualification and renewal of ESH equipment contracts. Assessing the levels of noise, illumination, heat or harmful or hazardous substances in the workplace and the exposure levels of persons at work therein
  • Supporting Incident investigations, dangerous occurrence or occupational disease that occurred within the workplace
  • Identifying and assessing any foreseeable risk arising from the workplace or work processes, providing timely input in the Risk Analysis and by providing measures to minimize/eliminate them
  • Performing required compliance audits/ inspections, daily plant safety and security rounds of the Site
  • Assisting/ coordinating Industrial Hygiene monitoring in plants
  • Ensuring the compliance to work permits (i.e. confined space, hot work, etc.)
  • Keeping Occupational Injury & Illness Rates to a benchmark level and strive to reduce it further
  • Improving employee/ perception, participation and commitment in the Safety and Health Process
  • Improving employee/ contractor recognition of at-risk behaviors.
  • Advising and following up service and maintenance status with SE of EMSEA fire protection system, firefighting hydrant system, emergency call point and perimeter CCTV equipment (general ground area).
  • Following up service and maintenance status with Low Voltage Engineer on equipment situated in FCC e.g. CCTV system, Lightning warning system and main fire alarm panel.
  • Following up service and maintenance with IT or E&I on communication equipment situated in IMT room e.g. phone line, fax machine and wind sock system and computers used for emergency situation.

Train and lead the Site Emergency Response Team by

  • utilizes knowledge and skills based on diverse experience from various fire safety and operations positions
  • Being actively involved in all functions of the Site ERT including annual employee drills, quarterly ERT training, community drills, and Mutual Aid Response and/or support
  • Assisting/ coordinating Fire Protection activities with SCDF
  • Approving specifications and being responsible for coordinating the maintenance of all emergency response equipment, PPE and apparatus
  • Ensuring that emergency response equipment meets safety compliance requirements


REQUIREMENTS

  • Education, Certification or relevant experience required:
  • safety professional with a minimum “O level” qualification
  • Trained to a minimum level of “Advanced Certificate” as per WSH guidelines
  • Additional skills and abilities required for this position:
  • Hands on experience in fire fighting, fire men training and incident response is necessary
  • Team working and decision making abilities
  • communication skills
  • Fluency in English and one or more of the local languages is mandatory
  • Singaporean or a Singapore PR only
  • List machines, tools, equipment, and others used in the performance of the duties.
  • Professional fire fighting and rescue equipment
  • Personal Protective Equipment including bunker gear, respirators and Level A/B suits
  • Unique working conditions : Outline specific physical, environmental, or unique conditions associated with the position.
  • Working in a chemical plant site that processes highly hazardous, toxic, flammable and explosive material
  • Class 3 Driving License required for driving emergency response vehicle
