Carpets do more than cover floors—they define comfort, durability, and design. Evonik supplies VESTOPLAST® amorphous poly-alpha-olefins (APAO) as raw materials for hot melt adhesives used in carpet and textile flooring, including carpet tiles, wall-to-wall carpets and car carpets. VESTOPLAST® grades are produced from ethylene, propylene and butene-1 in a continuous Ziegler low-pressure polymerization process, with monomer composition and molecular weight adjusted to give predominantly amorphous soft grades or harder, partially crystalline grades.

Sustainability at the Core
VESTOPLAST® eCO is produced using a mass balance approach with bio-circular and renewable feedstocks and consists of more than 90 percent ISCC PLUS-certified, mass-balanced material. The ISCC PLUS certification is based on the mass balance approach and provides traceability of the sustainable materials used in the production plants. The physical properties are identical to those of the conventional VESTOPLAST® portfolio, so eCO grades can be used as drop-in replacements in existing carpet adhesive formulations without reformulation.
