Starting off with circularity in mind
Evonik supports the creation of products designed for circularity from the very beginning. Many of our specialty products facilitate efficient recycling while ensuring long-lasting quality. Our product portfolio increasingly incorporates circular raw materials, with many of our production facilities certified under the ISCC PLUS standard for mass balancing. This enables our customers and partners to access demonstrably more eco-friendly materials without altering their production processes.
For products that cannot be collected, such as those ending up in wastewater, we ensure they are biodegradable, supporting the biological cycle. Additionally, our hydrogen peroxide processing solution decomposes into harmless water and oxygen, leaving no waste behind, making it ideal for disinfection purposes.
Enhancing durability and extend product lifespan
Extending the useful life of products is another key aspect of our approach. Evonik produces a diverse range of specialty chemicals that enhance product robustness and durability, ensuring they remain in use for longer and generate less waste. Whether it's protecting buildings, improving the scratch resistance of parquet coatings, or safeguarding metal structures against corrosion, our solutions significantly increase the durability of our customers' products.
Bringing valuable raw materials back into the loop
Our solutions ensure efficiency in recycling processes and high quality of resulting recyclates. We develop advanced processes for the chemical and mechanical recycling of various materials to ensure that valuable raw materials are returned to the cycle at the end of their life. Our products and technologies enhance recycling efficiency and improve the quality of recyclates. This applies to both mechanical and chemical plastics recycling, as well as other materials. We are particularly proud of our Rejuvenation Technology, which restores catalyst activity to its original level, enabling the reuse of high-quality catalysts.

Evonik and BMW join forces for green mobility
The "Future Sustainable Car Materials (FSCM)" project, spearheaded by the BMW Group, aims to transition to circular and CO₂-reduced value chains in vehicle production. This ambitious project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) over three years and brings together 19 industry and research partners. We are working together to develop and recycle metallic and plastic-based materials to create innovative and sustainable material concepts specifically for the automotive industry. The focus is particularly on reducing CO₂ emissions and promoting the circular economy by closing plastic cycles and integrating recycled materials into vehicle interiors and exteriors.
