Evonik in Singapore
Evonik has been a committed partner to Singapore since 1969, when we set up our first office. Activities here have since evolved from only sales activities to include production and research.
Today, with world-scale production complexes and Innovation hub in the country, we are constantly stepping up our presence to strengthen the competitiveness of our customers through research and applications.
Located in Tuas are our manufacturing facilities for Epoxy Curing Agent, Ink & Hotmelt Resin and Polyurethane Catalyst Blends, and another for catalyst recovery. The catalyst recovery center contributes to Evonik's focus on sustainability and the transition to a circular economy through activities in the field of desulfurization catalyst rejuvenation, sulfur recovery catalysts and alumina based purification adsorbents.
Other sustainability driven activities include our DL-methionine complexes on Jurong Island. The plants produce MetAMINO®, the essential amino acid DL-methionine used in livestock production to feed animals healthily, efficiently, and sustainably. With the completion of plant expansion and upgrade in 2024, the methionine complexes in Singapore have been enhanced to reduce product carbon footprint. The company will now supply about 340,000 metric tons of MetAMINO® to businesses worldwide.
Also on Jurong Island is our Oil Additives plant, the largest within Evonik’s global network. Its activities positions Evonik as a leading global supplier of high performance lubricant additives synthetic base fluids for the automotive and industrial lubricants.
Additionally, our presence on Jurong Island will be further strengthened by a new alkoxide plant that is expected to be completed soon, which will be Evonik’s first in Southeast Asia.
Singapore is also home to our Research and Development (R&D) hub in the region including our innovation and technical service centers. Our Asia Research Hub in Singapore internationalizes research to develop next generation solutions for sustainability, including in the areas of cell culture solutions, skin biology, functional surface and coating as well as process innovation. Since its inception in 2018, the Hub has continued its expansion to create sustainable solutions based on customers’ needs. With the opening of Life Science & Advanced Biomedical lab expansion in 2022 and a new global institute dedicated to skin sciences in 2024, Evonik is dedicated to deliver cutting-edge products whilst build a better, more sustainable future for generations to come.
