Clarity is a quality factor for beer, wine and fruit juices. For example, filtration is a crucial step in beer brewing, as beer haze may impair taste and consumer acceptance. Unwanted turbidity is primarily caused by protein and polyphenol residues. This is where silica comes in: It is a safe and well-established processing aid in the clarification of beverages.

As a special type of SIPERNAT® precipitated silica, SIPERNAT® 303 helps to bind proteins and reduce turbidity. With its very high surface area and exceptional filterability, this silica xerogel can be used as a clarifier and absorbent in liquid water-based systems, e.g. for the filtration and stabilization of beer. It delivers outstanding filtration results without compromising filter performance through clogging. The clear advantage for beverage producers is improved process efficiency and higher throughput.

Silica aids the sustainable production and utilization of food, facilitating its hygienic processing and consumption.
