Mineral Glass Wool Insulation

Evonik solutions for this application at a glance:

  • Form stability for better processing

  • Longer lifespan for insulation materials

  • Moisture-resistance

Building insulation offers significant opportunities for saving energy and reducing CO₂-emissions. The better the insulation, the less heat escapes, which is also true for heating pipes or roofs. Glass and mineral wool products have proven to be effective insulation materials due to their excellent thermal insulation properties, non-combustibility, and moisture resistance.

However, without additional additives, mineral or glass wool would hardly be suitable for insulation. The material would lack sufficient mechanical strength and break easily. To provide the fibers with the necessary stability, resins are added. Yet, without further treatment, resins bond poorly with the fibers. Only silanes, such as DYNASYLAN®, can bridge the organic and inorganic raw materials effectively for a long and high-level performance life of the insulation.

To enhance work safety during production, DYNASYLAN® HYDROSIL is recommended here. The water-based formulation is less flammable than solvent-based and VOC emittingalternatives, reducing the risk of accidents and offers at the same time more stable production processes.
