Evonik offers a wide variety of products for the production of fast curing, long lasting and durable 1K heat cure formulations. This includes a broad range of DYNAPOL® polyester resins as well as blocked PUR hardeners from our VESTANAT® B lineup, specifically designed for these applications. Our solvent VESTASOL® IP is a high boiler, very compatible (lack of haziness and solvency / lower viscosity) with multiple chemistries such as PUR, Melamines, Epoxy and Phenoxies.
Coil coating is a proven coating process for the continuous application of paints and films to rolled steel and aluminum strip. The process provides a range of industrial applications and everyday objects such as facades, household appliances, sheet metal doors and gates with a high-performance surface that is resistant to moisture and chemicals, corrosion and dirt absorption. At the same time, there is a high demand for flexibility in coil-coated sheets, as they are often formed during further processing.
Silanes as additives and primers
Silane technologies from Evonik’s DYNASYLAN® and DYNASYLAN® SIVO brands act as important additives in coil coatings and as coil coating primers. As primers, silanes improve adhesion within the coating system and between the coating and the workpiece surface. When coatings are applied in a single-layer system, silanes act as coil coating additives, enabling formulations that are particularly robust and durable. Overall, silanes in coil coating significantly improve the quality, durability and performance of surfaces, enabling manufacturers to develop innovative products that meet the quality demands of the market.
Food-safe can coatings
Silane technologies have a very similar effect as part of coatings for food and beverage cans. As additives, they promote adhesion, food safety and the chemical resistance of the external and internal coatings. They also protect the can and its contents against interactions. DYNASYLAN® and DYNASYLAN® SIVO silane products thus help food and beverage customers meet food contact regulations and quality standards.
